Cosplay
Cosplay: the term is a contraction of the English words costume and play, which describe the hobby of having fun dressing up as your favorite character, during public events such as conferences on anime. The phenomenon originated in Japan, between the end of the seventies and the early eighties, but had a certain relevance since 1995: For the first time, the Japanese press dedicated an article to this phenomenon when a group of boys in the city of Tokyo wore costumes inspired by characters from the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. The character represented by a cosplayer often belongs to the world of manga and anime, very widespread in the Asian country, but also to videogames, musical bands mainly of artists J-Pop, J-Rock, K-Pop or K-Rock (Japanese or Korean pop and rock music), role-playing games, movies and TV series, books and even advertising.
